Formaldehyde binding varnish „FALIMA-F“

Reasons for use

Certain particle boards, bonded with urea formaldehyde glue, give off formaldehyde. This is a very toxic and pungent gas which affects the eyes and mucous membrane. People and animals, in rooms, containing such boards, can be badly incapacitated. The gas is usually given off in high temperatures or humidity.

The reaction

The formaldehyde binding paint Falima-F contains chemicals which react with formaldehyde when it passes through the paint. The formaldehyde is neutralized chemically and made harmless. However the production of this gas is not stopped by the paint. Therefore the effectiveness of the paint is badly reduced when boards or elements are only painted on one side or the gas can get into the room through joints and cracks necessary for the building. During the application the eyes and the skin must be protected from the paint.

Practical experience

Falima-F has been successfully used for many years. The amount of chemicals contained in the paint which react with the formaldehyde is usually sufficient that only one coat need to be applied. A report on the effectiveness from a respective institute can be enclosed.

Falima-F

Is a white pigmented dispersion paint which dries with a mat finish and can be applied like any normal inside wall paint – by brush, by roller or spray onto the crude particle board. Falima-F can also be applied directly onto wallpaper, providing it is properly glued, and to old paint, providing it does not chalk. The paint is wipe- and washresistant. The paint can be tinted with suitable tinting pastes to pastel colours. One or two coats are necessary according to the underground.

Industrial application

Falima-F can be adjusted for different industrial application methods or for industrial drying on demand.
